                          "Wrapped"

I was asked to participate in "Wrapped" a year end exhibit at Studio Channel Islands Art Center Camarillo, CA. The exhibit highlighted four artists careers in art. For myself the curator Peter Tyas selected textiles from many of my series or installations. I was very honored to be asked. He selected "Moss Beach" from my "View From Above Series". Indigo works from my "Thoughts of the Mind" Installation. "Color x 3, orange" from my "Images" series and" Water Bubbles" from the current Installation I am working on titled "Pacific Ocean".

Also slected "Drought Destruction" from my Alviso series of which I recently sold three of those textiles to a collector.

Big News: I have just sold my work "Alviso Blue, Before the Drought"!

So excited that someone loves the textile as much as I do!

I have enjoyed creating this series so much and was lucky enough to have it exhibted virtually at the International Quilt Festval in Birmingham, United Kingdom in 2020!

                                             Remembering 9/11

  These two pictures are from the 10th Anniversary of 9/11

that took place at Firehouse #1 San Jose, California

Every year  on 9/11 they would ring the bells and have a service for those lost that day. Normally, I would be working in my studio and hear the bells. Makes you cherish everyday.

Before and After the Drought

                               Alviso, Before & After, 48h x 54w-Just Sold!

While looking at before and after the drought photographs of the Alviso Salt marshes it really jarred my sensibilities. This is my interpretation of how I felt.

This textile recently sold at The California Heritage Museum, Santa Monica, California  in the Art Quilts 2 exhibit!

 New fabric I designed using shells from my many mornings of beachcombing at my neighborhood beach.

I will be making throw pillows for our sectional from my order of fabric. I am really enjoying this fabric so much!

                                         

 I am a member of NLAPW and a couple pictures from my "Water Bubbles" series was featured in the Spring Pen Woman Magazine. Lovely to have them and the story of how Water Bubbles came about in the magazine.

"She Votes" Book

 While compiling the "She Votes" book I made a couple of videos about the book. This book is historic in nature in that it features 113 original artworks created by 69 artists who are all members of Women's Caucus for Art.  Most artists are members of the Southern Callifornia Women's Caucus for Art Chapter but some are by members of other Chapters and Members-At-Large. Water Bubbles

My "Water Bubbles #1" was juried into SAQA's vitural exhibit Land Art: From the From the Forest to Your Balcony! 

The virtual exhibit will be up until the end of the year. I have been working on this project for a couple of years. Actually this project started casually by dipping fabric that was tied in the shibori method into my Indigo Bath. As many of my projects are created I can start blindly with just a feeling and the project evolves with time. I love this process as it lends itself to so much personal discovery. The total different sites I worked on probably were well over fifteen. The story behind "Water Bubbles" is a fun playful one. 

In the spring of 2021 an article I wrote about the playfulness of the inspiraion will be published.

Once the article is published I will do a update. Who knows what I will have been able to add to this project by then. Below is a detail of "Water Bubbles".

Uncommon Ground Exhibit at Embed Gallery, Chatsworth, Ca.

 "She Votes" book was selected to be in the Uncommon Ground Exhibit at Embed Gallery, Chatsworth. Ca.  The "She Votes" book is a project I conceptualized to give voice to members of Women's Caucus for Art. Sixty Nine artist created 113 4 x 6 artworks expressing thoughts and feelings on the Centennial of the Ninteenth Amendment.
This is a very meaning full and important event for the book. All of the artworks were carefully selected for this exhibit to fit the theme that was curated by Suvan Geer and Sandra Mueller.
